In the U.S city of Akron, a 25 year old Jayland Walker was gunned down by the the police on the 27th of June, 2022 who claimed that the officers had attempted to stop him for traffic violation when Walker refused to stop for the officers. This forced the officers to initiate a pursuit for his vehicle which entered route 8 southbound.

Approximately forty seconds after the driver fled from the attempted stop, the sound of a gunshot was heard of which the officers reported the gunshots to have originated from the suspect vehicle

The officers claim to have tried apprehending Walker who was wearing a ski mask into custody by deploying tasers but they were unsuccessful which led them to continue their pursuit on foot. The suspect later stopped abruptly turning to the officers which forced them to discharge their firearms.

A handgun, loaded magazine and a golden wedding ring which were left in the vehicle were later discovered. The police officers claimed that Walker had turned to take a shot at them but he was empty handed.

The city of Akron residents are holding protests seeking for justice and asking why the police released over ninety rounds to his body which killed him. Walkers parents and family are still grieving , saying that if only the officers had spent more time without firing their guns Walker would still be alive as he had no intention of firing at them when he stopped.
