The GoFundMe program was launched by Kevin Ford’s daughter, Seryna, who praised her single dad for putting her and her siblings through school and college with his perfect attendance at Burger King.

She said her dad had worked at his job for 27 years and has never missed a day of work. He originally began working at this job as a single father when he gained custody of Seryna and her older sister 27 years ago.

As their family grew, he remarried while continuing to work at the Burger King because of the amazing health insurance that was provided through his employer because it was unionised.

Seryna’s dad continues to work there, because though he does look young, he is coming up on retirement age and leaving would cost him his retirement.

Former SNL star David Spade was among the top donation contributors, giving $5000. The donation was topped by Scott Dawson, who pledged $5,200 to the fundraiser.

The monetary goal has continually been increased as the donations poured in. The goal was at $150,000 over the weekend and it’s now is over $300,000.

While the father of four gracelessly accepted his prize, many users criticised his workplace for the underwhelming present of a movie ticket.

While appearing on NewsNationNow, Ford disclosed that he was ‘overwhelmed’ by the support from the public and the number of donations rolling in. “The generosity of these people is just overwhelming,” he said.

He hinted that he had been crying for three days as he couldn’t really believe it. he thanked everyone for their effort in his donation.

It’s safe to say the amount of money Ford will receive would be able to purchase more than just one movie ticket, perhaps even a home theatre.

Kevin Ford was later surprised after opening up a small bag of gifts that he received from HMS Host, the company from which Burger King hires staff. The small see-through bag included a bag of Reese’s, a Starbucks reusable cup, two pens and one movie ticket.

The 54-year-old, although grateful for the so-called gesture, admitted he was happy about anything and thankful for what he got.

Among the gifts he got, the biggest was him reuniting with his daughter and grandchildren after four years apart.
