Teachers are responsible for providing children with a solid foundation by teaching moral values and academic knowledge.

When the kids are at school, they are viewed as the kids’ second parents, but what happens when what they teach and encourage goes against all moral standards?

In El Paso, Texas, a high school teacher was terminated for instructing a student not to judge someone “simply because they want to have sex with a 5-year-old.”

Amber Parker, a teacher of English at Franklin High School, was overheard reprimanding a student named “Diego” for “labeling people like that [pedophile]”.  We’ll refer to them as “MAPs,” or Minor Attracted Persons,” she said “one shouldn’t pass judgment on such individuals. “

The matter was looked into last week by the El Paso Independent School District, and shortly after that the school board and board of trustees recommended terminating Parker.

After Allyn Walker of Old Dominion University used the phrase to destigmatize pedophilia, he was subsequently fired, and the phrase “minor-attracted persons” gained notoriety.

After seeing the findings of the district investigation, El Paso ISD School Board Vice President Daniel Call, who had earlier argued that Parker’s audio tape had been “taken out of context,” reversed his position.

The school system said the incident was a “personal matter,” refusing to share any details or the results of their inquiry.

The board of trustees unanimously decided to start the teacher’s termination process. According to board president Al Velarde, the next step will be “an appeals process defined by the Texas Education Code.” According to Liza Rodriguez, a district spokeswoman, the teacher is currently on paid administrative leave pending termination.
